Hi, I’m Múinteoir Áine, the Stiúrthóir here in the Naíonra and I’m from Caheragh.

My background in working with children began in 2005 when I started part time work with CoAction. In CoAction I worked as a home support to individual children and as a respite care assistant for 7 years. Throughout my time in CoAction I have been lucky to meet and in some cases work with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and child psychologists to implement care programmes for individual children. This has broadened my experience greatly.

In 2006 I began a four year Batchelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. I conducted many placements in childcare facilities and in 2010 I graduated from Mary I.

Home was always where my heart was and in March 2010 I got lucky and the following Sept I began working here in the Naíonra in the Gaelscoil. Both the Naíonra and I are lucky to have a hard working and dedicated committee and alongside my co-workers, I enjoy the experiences and excitements the Naíonra brings on a daily basis. As the saying goes never a dull moment and that is true to be said here as the Naíonra is always a hive of activity and buzzing with laughter, cheer anticipation and excitement.

Since beginning work in the Naíonra I have completed many courses in a bid to broaden my knowledge for example; speech and language, first aid, child protection, culturewise, cúrsa do Stiúrthóirí Naíonraí, management and training solutions, manual handling and Buntús.

I love my work as some days can be as much of a learning experience for me as for the páistí (for e.g. the trip to the fire station – wow what an experience!!!!!).
