My name is Mary Hendy – I am married with four children. My family and I relocated to West Cork some eleven years ago from Dublin. I am originally from West Cork, so in a way I was moving back home.
In May 2011 I successfully completed the FETAC Level V Child Care Course in Rossa College, Skibbereen receiving a distinction in the following subjects: Child Development, Special Needs, Early Childhood Education, Working in Childcare, Caring for Children 0-6 years, Art, Communication and Word Processing.
I completed the eight week ‘Is Feidir Liom’ course which I finalised in December 2011 assisting me with my delivery of spoken Irish.
In October 2012 I successfully completed the FETAC Level VI Supervision in Childcare – Advanced Certificate with CMIT and studied Child Development, Early Childhood Programmes, Social and Legal Issues.In June 2015, following a particular interest I had, I completed a child psychology module which has been extremely beneficial to my work.
I am passionate about education and working with young children and working in the Naíonra allows me carry out this role by assisting and playing my part in encouraging all the children prepare for Junior Infants as well as encouraging children socially, emotionally and intellectually.
To date my work experience has been made up of a work placement I carried out in the Junior Infants in the Gaelscoil and I now work for the Naíonra in a part time capacity over the past three years, in a role I thoroughly enjoy.
