Naíonra Philosophy

Naíonra (Playschool) Phobail An Sciobairín encourage young children to acquire Irish naturally through the medium of play in a very relaxed environment. Each child will engage with the use of Irish, at their own pace and this will be evident as they pick up phrases and words through their daily interactions.

About the Naíonra
The community playschool is bursting with age appropriate activities and experiences for the young child that aims to foster the individual needs of every child. With enriching and challenging activities for the young child there will be plenty enjoyable
learning opportunities available in both an indoor and outdoor
environment.
Children will be provided with plentiful opportunities to informally encourage their reading, writing and mathematical skills throughout their time in the Naíonra.

You may be concerned that you have little or no Irish?

That is no problem, 90% of parents have little or no Irish. The Naíonra aims to encourage children to learn the language in a natural way, there is no emphasis on what Mum or Dad must learn, however it is common for parents to pick up on some of the phrases and words also!!

Pre School Year:
​Children are eligible for Free Pre School on the next intake once they reach 3 years of age. Intakes occur Sept only.

The Naíonra offers limited places to children who may be younger than the age  permitted for the Free Pre-School Year. These places are available at a competitive rate.
