OSIE: Eolaíocht
Daltaí na Gaelscoile ag glacadh páirt i gceardlann eolaíochta le linn Science Week, mí na Samhna 2015. Cliceáil anseo i gcomhar an físeán.
Foramharc
Tá clár eolaíochta do leanaí i ngach rang sa bhunscoil sa Churaclam Oideachais Sóisialta, Imshaoil agus Eolaíochta.
OSIE: Cuireann eolaíocht ar chumas leanaí smaointe bunúsacha eolaíocha mar aon le tuiscint faoi na gnéithe bitheolaíocha agus fisiciúla den domhan a fhorbairt. Tugann an Curaclam Eolaíochta aird faoi leith ar an bphróiseas trína fhorbraíonn leanaí an t-eolas agus an tuiscint seo trí thacú leo scileanna eolaíocha a fhorbairt.Cabhraíonn an curaclam le leanaí dearcadh dearfach a chothú i leith na heolaíochta. Spreagann sé leanaí chun iniúchadh a dhéanamh agus meas a chothú ar conas a théann eolaíocht agus teicneolaíocht i bhfeidhm ar a saol agus ar an imshaol.
OSIE: Curaclam na hEolaíochtaTá eolaíocht sa churaclam do gach leanbh sa bhunscoil ó naíonáin shóisearacha go dtí rang a sé.Tá an curaclam curtha i láthair in dhá chuid: scileanna agus ábhar.
Scileanna
Tacaíonn an Curaclam Eolaíochta le leanaí agus iad ag obair go heolaíoch agus i bhforbairt a scileanna deartha agus cruthaithe.

Scileanna
Tacaíonn an Curaclam Eolaíochta le leanaí agus iad ag obair go heolaíoch agus i bhforbairt a scileanna deartha agus cruthaithe.
- Ag obair go heolaíoch – Is é croílár an Churaclaim Eolaíochta ná foghlaim trí iniúchadh agus imscrúdú. Spreagtar leanaí chun obair mar eolaithe agus iad ag déanamh imscrúduithe agus ag féachaint ar an imshaol fisiciúil agus nádúrtha. Cabhraíonn na heispéiris seo le leanaí a fháil amach gur féidir leo réitigh a fháil ar fhadhbanna iad féin trí fhéachaint ar a n-imshaol féin. Tacaíonn an curaclam le scileanna fiosrúcháin a fhorbairt i rith na bhfiosraithe seo: breathnóireacht, ceistiú, mínithe a mholadh, torthaí a thuar, agus imscrúduithe a phleanáil chun smaointe a thástáil.
- Ag dearadh agus ag déanamh – Is é dearadh agus déanamh an chuid theicneolaíoch den Churaclam Eolaíochta. Tugann an ghné seo den churaclam deiseanna do leanaí smaointe eolaíocha a chur i bhfeidhm sa ghnáthshaol agus i ngnáthfhadhbanna. Cuirtear dúshlán roimh na leanaí iniúchadh, pleanáil, agus nithe agus múnlaí a dhéanamh chun fadhbanna praiticiúla a réiteach. Cluichí simplí maignéadacha, muilte gaoithe nó uisce, árthaí a snámhann, teileascóip, soithí ar son críoch faoi leith, ciorcaid leictreacha agus mar sin de a dhearadh agus a chruthú - cabhraíonn na gníomhaíochtaí seo ar fad le leanái feasacht faoi luach na teicneolaíochta ina saol féin a fhorbairt.
Tá ceithre shnáithe sa Churaclam Eolaíochta:
- Dúile beo
- Fuinneamh agus forsaí
- Ábhair
- Feasacht agus cúram imshaoil.

Overview
The curriculum for Social, Environmental and Scientific Education incorporates a science programme for children in all classes in the primary school.
SESE: Science enables children to develop basic scientific ideas and understanding about the biological and physical aspects of the world. The Science Curriculum gives special attention to the process through which children develop this knowledge and understanding by helping them to develop scientific skills. The curriculum also helps children to develop positive attitudes to science. It encourages them to examine and to appreciate how science and technology impact on their lives and on the environment.
SESE: Science CurriculumScience is for all children in the primary school from junior infants to sixth class. The curriculum is presented in two sections: a skills section and a content section.
Skills
The Science Curriculum supports children in working scientifically and in developing their designing and making skills.
The Science Curriculum includes four strands:

Skills
The Science Curriculum supports children in working scientifically and in developing their designing and making skills.
- Working scientifically – Children learning by investigating is at the heart of the Science Curriculum. Children are encouraged to work as scientists as they investigate and explore their physical and natural surroundings. These first-hand experiences help them to find answers to problems themselves by exploring their own environment. The curriculum supports children in developing skills of enquiry during this investigative work: observing, asking questions, suggesting explanations, predicting outcomes, planning investigations or experiments to test ideas and drawing conclusions.
- Designing and making - Designing and making is the technological component of the Science Curriculum. This aspect of the curriculum provides children with opportunities to apply scientific ideas to everyday situations and problems. The children are challenged to explore, plan and make models and functional objects in order to solve practical problems. Designing and making simple magnetic games, wind/water mills, floating vessels, telescopes, containers for specific purposes, electrical circuits and so on develop children's awareness of the value of technology in their lives.
The Science Curriculum includes four strands:
- Living things
- Energy and forces
- Materials
- Environmental awareness and care.
